What is bibliotherapy?

Broadly, bibliotherapy is defined as using books to help people deal with psychological, social and emotional challenges. However, to develop a shared understanding of bibliotherapy as discussed in this presentation, I am defining bibliotherapy, specifically creative bibliotherapy, as ‘the practice of using literature and storytelling to positively affect the wellbeing of individuals, families, communities and society.’
